Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 15, 2026
In short: episodr does not operate an advertising or analytics service, does not track you across apps or websites, and does not sell your information. The app processes the minimum information needed to connect to Trakt, synchronize your TV-show activity, remember app preferences, and display artwork.
This Privacy Policy explains how the developer of the episodr iOS app (“episodr,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use the app. It applies only to episodr. Trakt, Apple, and content-delivery providers process information under their own privacy policies.
Information episodr processes
| Information | How it is obtained | Why it is used |
|---|---|---|
| Trakt account information | After you authorize episodr through Trakt, the app receives your Trakt username and may transiently process the display name returned by Trakt. | To show which Trakt account is connected and provide account-based synchronization. |
| Authentication information | Trakt returns an authorization code, access token, refresh token, token expiry, and OAuth security state during sign-in. | To authenticate Trakt API requests and protect the sign-in flow. Tokens and OAuth state are stored in the iOS Keychain and are not used for advertising. |
| TV-show activity | The app reads from and writes to your Trakt account, including tracked and archived shows, private episodr lists, watch history, episode progress, and calendar data. | To provide tracking, archive, history, progress, and upcoming-episode features and keep them synchronized with Trakt. |
| Searches and show identifiers | Search terms and Trakt show, season, or episode identifiers are sent directly from the app to Trakt. | To return search results, show details, episode details, cast information, and artwork references. |
| Local app state and preferences | episodr stores selections, tracked-show snapshots, cached Trakt responses, artwork, badge preference, and other interface state on your device. | To restore your interface, support offline or faster loading, and reduce unnecessary network requests. |
| iCloud preference data | If iCloud is available, episodr stores your Home sorting preference and its update time in Apple’s iCloud key-value store. | To keep this preference consistent across your Apple devices. episodr does not receive your Apple Account credentials. |
| Standard network information | When the app contacts Trakt, Apple services, or an artwork host, those services may automatically receive information such as your IP address, request time, and standard connection metadata. | To deliver requested API responses, synchronization, iCloud functionality, and images. |
Information episodr does not collect
episodr contains no third-party advertising, analytics, attribution, or crash-reporting SDK. The app does not request your precise location, contacts, photos, camera, microphone, health information, or advertising identifier. We do not use episodr data to build advertising profiles, track you across other companies’ apps or websites, or sell your personal information.
How information is shared
episodr does not send your app data to a server operated by us. Information is disclosed only as needed to provide features you request:
- Trakt: Authentication, searches, account information, lists, show activity, and watch history are exchanged directly with Trakt. episodr creates its synchronization lists as private Trakt lists. See Trakt’s privacy information.
- Apple iCloud: The Home sorting preference and update time may be stored using iCloud key-value storage. Apple handles that information under the Apple Privacy Policy.
- Artwork hosts: Poster and episode images are downloaded from the image URLs supplied by Trakt. The host receives a normal image request and associated network metadata. episodr does not intentionally send your Trakt access token to an artwork host.
- Legal and safety requirements: We may disclose information actually available to us if required by applicable law or necessary to protect rights, safety, or the integrity of the app. Because we do not operate an episodr user-data server, we generally do not possess your Trakt or local app records.
We use service providers only for the purposes described above and expect them to protect information in accordance with their published commitments and applicable law. We do not authorize them to use information received through episodr for our advertising or cross-app tracking.
Storage, security, and retention
- Trakt access and refresh tokens are stored in the iOS Keychain with device-only, unlocked-device protection. They remain until you disconnect Trakt, replace them through authentication, or erase the device’s relevant Keychain data.
- Your synchronized snapshot, username, selections, and interface state remain locally until you disconnect Trakt, remove them through the app, or erase the app’s data. The main snapshot may be included in an Apple device backup according to your backup settings.
- Show and episode detail caches are normally pruned after 14 days and are also limited by entry count.
- Artwork and artwork-URL caches are normally pruned after 30 days and are also limited by entry count. You can remove downloaded artwork at any time with Profile → Clear Image Cache.
- The Home sorting preference remains in iCloud according to your iCloud account settings and Apple’s retention practices.
- Information stored by Trakt remains subject to your Trakt settings and Trakt’s retention policy.
We use HTTPS for network requests, iOS Keychain protection for credentials, and iOS file protection for local app files. No storage or transmission system can be guaranteed completely secure.
Your choices and deletion
- Disconnect Trakt and remove local account state: choose Profile → Disconnect Trakt. episodr asks Trakt to revoke the app’s authorization, then removes its Trakt tokens and local synchronized account snapshot. This does not delete watch history or other information stored by Trakt. To remove downloaded images as well, use Clear Image Cache.
- Change Trakt data: use episodr’s tracking and history controls or manage the information directly in Trakt.
- Revoke episodr’s Trakt access or delete the Trakt account another way: use your Trakt account settings. Removing episodr does not itself delete information held by Trakt.
- Control iCloud: manage iCloud for episodr in Apple device settings. Disconnecting Trakt does not delete the independent Home sorting preference stored in iCloud.
- Remove device data: disconnect Trakt and clear the image cache before deleting the app if you want to actively remove the data exposed by those controls. Apple may retain data in device or iCloud backups according to your backup settings.
Children’s privacy
episodr is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through a service operated by us. A Trakt account is governed by Trakt’s own eligibility rules and policies.
International processing
Trakt, Apple, and artwork providers may process information in countries other than the one where you live. Their handling of that information is governed by their policies and applicable transfer safeguards.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when episodr’s features, service providers, or legal obligations change. The effective date at the top will be updated when material changes are published.
